How the Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is changing the game for Canadian businesses

The Canada Digital Adoption Program (CDAP) is a transformative initiative launched by the Government of Canada. Designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) harness the power of digital technologies, CDAP is revolutionizing the way businesses operate and compete in the digital marketplace.

The Liberal government spearheaded the initiative due to the impact the COVID-19 pandemic had on Canadian businesses who were not digitally ready. When the pandemic lockdowns came, consumers turned online to browse, shop and purchase with their local businesses. Canadian businesses who were not digitally-ready, were financially hurt the most.

The CDAP program offers two grants for Canadian businesses to hire an approved CDAP Advisor to evaluate their business with a digital maturity assessment, and work with the business to identify and deliver a digital adoption plan (DAP) to address opportunities, gaps and goals in a business where digital solutions or technologies can play a role; whether that be digital marketing to reach and engage customers, or technologies to enable new capabilities that streamline operating efficiencies, or cyber security to reduce the risks busines face in today’s digital landscape.

Why CDAP?

In today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world, Canadian businesses must adapt and embrace digital tools to stay competitive and thrive.

Recognizing this, the Canadian government introduced CDAP to foster innovation, drive economic growth, and help SMEs realize their full potential.

The CDAP program offers grants, advisory services through digital advisors or consultants, and interest-free loans to support businesses in their digital transformation journey and areas of digital adoption.

How can Canadian businesses benefit?

The Canada Digital Adoption Program offers two main grants that can significantly boost a business’s digital strategy:

  1. Grow Your Business Online Grant: This grant provides up to $2,400 in funding to help businesses set up e-commerce and grow their sales online.
    2. Boost Your Business Technology Grant: This grant offers up to $15,000 in funding to get advice on technologies that can help businesses.

In addition to these grants, businesses can also benefit from a 0% interest loan of up to $100,000 from the Business Development Bank of Canada (BDC) to implement their digital adoption plan.
